You Know You're Southern When....

Your idea of Memorial Day Weekend consists of....

A Saturday spent at the pool with corn on the cob, roast and potatoes for dinner

followed up with a baseball game cheering on your home team.

And your Sunday starts with baking a home made pie before going to church, having a cookout with the family...

and then spending the day at the lake eating watermelon, getting sun and mosquito bites.

Your husband takes off  gigging frogs, (yes, it does happen...) Your wife passes a trailer with the Christmas lights still on....

picks up some "wild" growing Hydrangeas,

and then proceeds to pull over on the side of the road to pick up a Christmas tree. (HA, no joke!)

Your idea of the perfect summer set up

is a front porch complete with rocking chairs, ferns in galvanized tins and an American flag.

May we always remember the sacrifice and be grateful for the men and women that gave their lives for our country and our freedom.

Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day!

And thank you to all of our troops both past and present.

Ross Love

I was in Ross last night and I ended up filling up a cart full of stuff. I love to go in and see what they have, it is usually hit or miss but every once and a while I feel like I have hit the jack-pot... this was one of those times. I tried on several clothes, bought some workout clothes and a pair of sunglasses and then got all of this....

I thought this would be cute for utensils for a outdoor party. $6!!

This burlap hurricane was one $7

They had these too...

I got this one for $6.

Then I got this as well. I thought it would be cute on my front door with flowers in it... hydrangeas hopefully, it was $7.

I also spotted (from TJ Maxx) a blue toile quilt with 2 shams. I took the last of it and had to buy it so I didnt regret it. The shams were $13 each and the quilt was $40. PLUS, it matches my shams I got the other day and the pillows from my bed...

see... YAY!! I cant wait to put it all together. Yall know I like to change stuff up and for $70, I will take it!

Small Group Bridal Shower

Meet the Bride and the Groom to be.... Joel and Briana.
Our small group had a bridal/couples BBQ shower for them last night.  We all chipped in and bought the beautiful couple their plates, goblets and dishes.

The colors were navy and orange and all the small group girls chipped in to help out with everything!

Aren't the flowers pretty? The Sunflowers were purchased but the hydrangeas were from a neighbors yard. Burlap was used for table cloths.

This is all of our small group girls (minus 2). These are some GREAT girls!

Loved the painted "B" on the fireplace (New last name)

The Happy couple getting married in just a few weeks!

I brought a juicy and very yummy watermelon and also made my first Fudge Pie.

Here is the recipe I used, it is extremely yummy and easy peasy and I will most definitely be making it again... everyone said it tasted kind of like a brownie.

And on another note....

I know I am way behind but we watched "The Vow" on Saturday night and I LOVED it. I had heard mixed things about it but I definitely recommend it. Of course, it is based on a true story, which is even better then the movie. So check is out if you love birds out there haven't seen it yet!

Lil Bubba's Graduation

May is always a busy month. It seems like every year we always have Birthday parties, graduations, weddings and wedding showers to go to.  Today alone we had a Graduation this morning and a wedding shower tonight. And this past Friday night, my lil Bub graduated high school!!! I still cant believe he is 18 and leaving for college, and that 8 years ago, I was on the same stage graduating... time sure does fly by!!

This is the soon-to-be graduate giving the 3 woman in his life flowers during the ceremony.

Class of 2012.

Watching Graduation

Its official, they did it!

All the "kids"

The siblings.

Mom, Dad and their son.

Me and my favorite little bro!

All the girls with our flowers.

The whole crew!

My pretty flower in one of my painted blue mason jars next to my bed.

This was Joeys gift from us. I found the idea on Pinterest and thought it was a cute idea.  We also gave him a UT license plate.
GO VOLS!!!!! HA!

Joey had a Graduation/ Boot Camp send off party on Saturday. He leaves in just 2 weeks for Boot Camp after he graduates he goes to Combat Training and then finishes with his Marine Job training after that. Then he will be attending UT for the Spring semester. He is going to be a very busy young man and I am so proud of him but it will be so hard not to see him for that long.
So say a prayer for him and our family especially this summer!

More Monograms!

I believe I have gone a little monogram crazy! I ordered this super cute IPhone case on Etsy, you can check it out here, there are so many to choose from and she can pretty much make any design you want... SCORE!

Acrylic Keyring with monogram
When I ordered the Monograms, from here, I also ordered a key chain for me and as a graduation present for my Husbands cousin.
I was able to go to the Thrift Store today....
I got a pair of pillow cases for $4. Aren't they pretty? Scalloped edges and all!

And I got this drink pitcher for $.60. I would call that success!

And, we got the summer flowers in at work... they had an extra flat left over so I got to take them home!

Yay! So now I have 4 pots of flowers for the summer time.

Mothers Day & Monograms

Happy Mothers Day to all you wonderful Mothers out there!

Here is what I got my MIL and my Mother for their special day....

Pinned Image

Personalized monogram carved from wood. I LOVE them (Don't tell but I got one for myself and my sister got one as well..... we could not resist!) We found them on Pinterest and then ordered them from Southern Proper Monograms

Speaking of monograms..... I have gone goo-goo over Monograms, I just ordered a new personalized iPhone case as well as some summer goodies ( I had some birthday money saved up)

I spotted the towel at TJ's. Its Kate Spade for $10. They had yellow, coral and green and I loved the polkadots. So this will be my new beach towel. I hate all the cheapo beach towels that are so thin and are $17. This one is nice and fluffy and with he monogram cost $20. This towel here is $33 plus shipping. So I don't think I did so bad!

And my new beach hat!
I called Southeastern Salvage and asked them if they could monogram straw hats. When they answered with a "YES" I could have jumped through the phone and kissed the girl! The hat (Target) was $14.99 but I had a $4 off coupon and the monogram was $5. So, total I spent $16, the ones here are double that AT LEAST!! I am THRILLED!

This made my day!!!!

The Bachelorette EMILY starts THIS MONDAY!!!!!!!!! I am so glad someone told me it was starting because I had no clue....

THE BACHELORETTE - Emily Maynard, the beautiful, sweet, young mom who captured America's and Brad Womack's heart on the 15th season of "The Bachelor," finally thought she had her happy ending. She accepted Brad's proposal and was looking forward to walking down the aisle. Unfortunately her relationship with Brad ended, along with her dream of moving to Austin with her daughter, Ricki, and starting a family. But Emily is ready for her luck to change and to bring her the love she so richly deserves. It's hard to meet men as a single mom, but Emily will have her pick of 25 bachelors when she gets a second opportunity to find love starring in the eighth edition of "The Bachelorette" when it premieres this spring on the ABC Television Network. (ABC/CRAIG SJODIN)
You can go to the ABC website and see the guys... should be interesting as always!

Have a great weekend!

Wordy Wednesday

First of all, I want you all to know that I am doing the Couch to 5k thing. However, on Sunday I pulled something in my leg and I am limping around... so yesterday I had to walk instead. What a great time to start this right? When its 90 degrees out!

I am making homemade banana bread tonight, it smells delicious!
This is the recipe I used. I hope it turns out good!

Look at these beautiful tulips from a dear friend of mine. She brought them to my office when I was working on Sunday. It was such a special treat, tulips are so sweet and I have had never had anyone bring me flowers at work!

I went to Southeastern Salvage today to drop off some things to be monogrammed (which I cannot wait to pick up) I will definitely share pictures!
I had to walk around since I had not been in there in a while and the had a lot of new, neat things. So I snapped some pictures of things that caught my eye.

I really liked these distressed, natural wood top tables, I thought about them for my kitchen island. They had 2 sizes for $200 and $249

I love these bottles, all different colors in various sizes. Starting at $19.

Then, I spotted these...

Dough Bowls! I have always wanted one... these were HUGE and $89. If I could have found a smaller one, it would have come home with me!
