Hatched

The baby Robins have hatched (I wish I could tell you when their Birthday was...)
This morning they must have been getting fed because I could hear their little baby chirps while the Hubs and I were watching
This show (speaking of birds....)
HA....Have you ever seen this show? It is absolutely hilarious! Uncle Si (in the middle with the shorts) cracks me up, he said he never leaves home without his cup filled with sweet tea and the Bible, my kinda guy...HeHe!

Anyways, back to the babies.... I went to take a picture a little later...
looks like its nap time! They are so small.... I can't even believe they all fit in the nest. I wonder how many will survive, I am guessing there are 5 of them since there were 5 eggs but who knows... guess we will see.
I see a lot of mess to clean up in my future.... bird poop all over my front door and my nicely fresh stained front porch! HA!

Now that the birds have hatched, its almost summer and I am getting excited....

Here is a sneak peek of the floppy straw hat I just got!

Happy Cinco De Mayo!

Its Cinco De Mayo....
I know this is super cheesy but this made me laugh!!

We celebrated with tacos of course! They were probably the best I have ever made,

I used the soft taco box. But I used half an onion, taco seasioning, browned the beef and added a can of rotel and a can of black beans. Then the toppings, lettuce, cheese and sour cream. It was delicious!

I got a WoodWick candle and put a vinyl H sticker on it, (I got it from Hob Lob 40% off) I am going to have to remember this for future gifts!

This is my new little REAL topiary. I spotted him at WalMart the other day and fell in love, especially for only $11.

And just because this girl loves some seasonal decor, I got this natural rug with a fun, summery pattern for the kitchen....

Happy May 5!!!

Eggs and Running

A couple friends and I got together on Monday to have dinner. We were talking about working out and running etc. and we decided that today we would start Couch to 5k.

The Couch-to-5K ® Running Plan

The training has you running 3 miles in 2 months, which I am hoping means dropping 40 pounds in 2 months as well (HA), guess we will see. I am also trying the whole low carb thing for a while especially now that summer time is pretty much here (90 degrees) already! So, wish me luck. This girl hates to run, but I am going to give it a try!

I went searching for a new front door wreath and I really want a hydrangea one and I was planning on making one, but the fake blooms for the most part look so fake and are not that cheap, especially for a whole wreath. When I was in JoAnn, I decided to see what I could come up with....

Here is my final look. I am IN LOVE with it but with the basket and the blooms it was going to cost a little more then I was willing to pay..

Then, I saw this wreath $60 and half off of that, so I took it home with me. I really love my boxwood wreath but since its such a dark green color and my door is black it doesn't show up well. I think this lighter green will pop more on the door.

However, I cant change out my wreath right now because.....

A little Robin decided to make a little nest on my wreath! How sweet are these little eggs and I love the blue color... I guess it is Spring time after all....

Speaking of eggs....

The Mr. brought these home from a farmer he works with. $2 per dozen for organic eggs laid about 2 weeks ago, blue, white, light brown and brown. How neat is that?

Dining Room and Cake

I have been looking for the perfect spot to put my new black and cream hounds tooth pillows. Since a lot of my house is blues and browns, I don't know where to put them.

So I tried them on 2 of the chairs on each side of my sideboard, what do you think? I think they might look a little odd but I cant make up my mind.

I have been looking for something for the center of my dining room table for quite some time now.

When I spotted this vase, I thought it would be perfect, the problem was, it was $13 and there were only 2 of them where I needed 3. I loved the blue tint and the bubbles in the glass, but I really loved the texture of the Jute tied around, so this became my inspiration.

I got some Jute and then purchased 3 tall skinny glass vases (which I had to run around all over town looking for, but ended up paying $5 a piece from TJ's and Home Goods)

Here is the final look! I love it, plus I can always add something (like a burlap flower or something) or take it off if I get tired of it.

I almost forgot that my Sis and I went Thrifting last week, I came home with an old Baptist Hymnal for $.50

and this cute lamp shade for $5. Its blue gingham, I love gingham, I just hope its not too country looking. Now I am on the hunt for a lamp base. My Sis got an old oar for $5!

I made my first Homemade chocolate cake for our small group dinner on Sunday night. I was at a Rehearsal dinner a few weeks ago and we had the most amazing chocolate cake. So, I asked for the recipe and she said it was super easy, to just follow the recipe on the back of the Hershey's Cocoa. YES!

You can get the recipe here. It is super easy and super moist, very yummy and highly recommended. Plus its homemade, what could be better?

I need to work on my blog design and have noticed sometimes it wont load. Any ideas? And I apologize about the poor picture quality, I need to get better at using my camera and not my phone for pictures!

Saturday Continued

My Sis and I spent the rest of our Saturday having lunch at Zaxbys and running to Michaels to Hobby Lobby. Then we had a craft day!

I got these studs at Hobby Lobby, 1/2 off and bought the backs of the earrings to glue them on. So I got a 2 new pair of earrings for $4. One is going to be a gift and one for me!
They look just like the ones I saw at Francesca's for $9, YAY! Cheap and easy, the way I like my crafts.....HA!

Don't you just love blue mason jars, becuase I sure do!
I have several clear jars that I have purchased waiting to try the tutorial on Pinterest where you can die them blue. So, we decided to give it a try.
We looked for the paint at Hob Lob, we couldn't find what we were needing so we went to Michaels, where they had the paint on clearance for $2! (even though it is not the same paint I found in the tutorial) After loosing my keys in the store for about 30 minutes... (HA) we headed home.

It worked! Here is our result, and we did all those jars with one small bottle of paint.
You can follow the tutorial here.
Here are a few quick tips:
The key is to use the translucent glass paint and do THIN coats of paint using a sponge brush.
Let it dry completely before trying a 2nd coat or the paint will peel off.
The neat thing is that after 10 hours, the jars are washable! It was so easy and now I might be addicted to dying glass blue!!

WHEW! What a day of deals and crafts!

Our small group was getting together for dinner and a baseball game downtown. We missed dinner but decided to head down to the Lookouts game, what a great group we have!
Downtown was PACKED! There were prom-go-ers everywhere, the Aquarium was having their 30th Anniversary so they had activities and the game was SOLD OUT! I have never seen a Lookouts game sold out! We looked for parking for 45 minutes! But we finally made it down there and luckily we were able to get tickets, it was definitely the perfect weather for a game and we went out for a little bit to Big River Grill after!

Hope yall had a great weekend!

Casual Sister Saturday

Sis and I decided to have a very casual no makeup, hat kind of a day on Saturday, which typically means you will run into half of the people you know... (which proved to be true that day.. ha) ANYWAYS,  we hit up several yard sales and to be perfectly honest, I did not find anything to really get that excited about but it was a fun time. There were 2 community sales we went to, the first of which, was a complete BUST... only like 2 people in the neighborhood decided to participate. HA. oh well... we then went to a massive neighborhood that literally had 50 yard sales... EASY!

Here are our finds...
2 wire wreath forms, a plate hanger (which is somehow MIA), 5 big bottles of craft paint, yarn (picture of all my sisters finds and a bag of pine cones all for... drum roll please... $.50!!! HA, this lady was packing up by the time we came around, so she was pretty much just ready to get it off her hands!

My sister got all of this for under $3 except for the serving pieces that were $7.50.  Sperrys were only $.50, coloring book $.25, 2 Mason Jars $.50, purse, tree, frame and plate holder $1.50.

I also got this wreath form for $1.

The candle and the notepad were $.50 each... then I got the Carrie CD at a Thrift Store for $1.

This plate was $.30 cents at the Thrift Store as well...

The big find of the day, was on old Singer sewing machine my sister bought for a gift....

It still works, but had the original manual along with some spar parts! How neat!

So there you have it... nothing too exciting. But I had a whole day of fun for just a few dollars!

Prom Weekend, Yard Sales and Homemade Gifts

I still cant believe that my little Brother (Bub) had his senior prom this past Friday night, time is flying by and his graduation is coming way too quickly. Unfortunately, I had to work until 6, so I missed the photo shoot but I dropped by to see him while they were eating dinner.
Such a handsome fella... I guess it runs in the family. HA!

This is Joey and his date... He thinks he is too cool for school in his sunglasses...

I actually got to hit up some yard sales this weekend. I only found 2! FAIL...2 neighborhoods near ours had neighborhood yard sales last week so it seems like I missed out and was a week late. Oh well, I did get a few things...

A brand new Bare Minerals blush for $1. Along with some root pump and some other makeup

I got this nice golf towel for the Hubs for $1.

And, I got this Pampered Chef muffin stone for $5... YAY!!!!

On another note, completely random: My dear friend who we had the party for which I shared in this post, made me these adorable, creative coasters!

I am in love with them and really want to try to make them. All it is is tiles, scrapbook paper, card stock, a sharpie and sealed with Mod-Podge. LOVE it, and how super easy is that?

Aren't Homemade gifts the best? They have always been my favorite, to give and receive, one reason I love using Pinterest! I am always up for new creative ideas, thanks Mads!

Summer Dreaming

Lately I have been dreaming about summer due to the fact it has been so warm, pools here are already open and the vacation planning has started. I have already purchased my summer ferns and even got a new American flag!
The Mr. and I are starting to work on the yard. Some of our plants from last year did not survive so we have some more planting to do and a lot of mulch to buy!

I decided to change up my guest bedroom and make it a little more summery/nautical feel with stuff I had around the house... Have a peek!
I used a white, brown and navy.

I am really liking it, not in love, but since I used stuff I had its a FREE makeover!

Also redid my bedside tables.... I like the height that this sailboat picture gives.

I like the texture of my star and I like the look of it on the table as well...

I am working on something for my dining room table too, I spotted some bubble glass with twine on it but the problem was, they were $13 a piece and only had 2 where I needed 3. So, I figured, I would just make my own for half the cost..... I am still working on it and I went crazy trying out different sizes but I think I found the perfect ones....

Here is is... still working on putting the jute on them. But I am LOVING the look!

I picked up this frame for $7. I like the blue distressed look and I need to change up my tables in the living room.

I fell in love with this jar too.. its has a blue/ hand blown look with grass tied on the top, plus you can fit a candle in it, I am thinking I will put it in my upstairs bathroom.

My little Bub had his senior chapel talk Tuesday. We decorated his table with old pictures, his drum sticks, marine stuff and UT stuff. We even had orange and white balloons and gumballs.

Here we are!

This is him speaking. He did a great job! I am so proud of him. It is going to be so hard this summer not having him here. He graduates, leaves for boot camp then goes off to college, all within a matter of days..... NOT FUN! I still cant believe he is graduating High school in May. Time sure does fly by... ENJOY IT!
