Anniversary Celebration Part 1

We had a great Anniversary day. We were both off work and really enjoyed the entire day together which was so nice!
I got my new beach book in the mail. I have heard really good things about this book and I am a big Alan fan so I can't wait to read it when we go to the beach for our anniversary in a few weeks. Yes, I am going to the beach again! YAY... can you tell I am a beach bum?

Speaking of our 3 year anniversary, not only are we going to the beach in a few weeks...

I got a new car (well, new to me... its a 2005) This is me in my car... we got it on the day of our anniversary. Its very nice, we had been looking for a few months and found this lil guy. it has a sunroof... AND a remote! ha... I am so excited! Can't you tell?

And this is my anniversary gift... and yes, I picked it out. HA! Is it not the cutest? I love pearls too and wanted one that I could wear everyday. I got it on the ETSY website. I love that website for one of a kind handmade items!

We at at Panera for lunch and ate at a wonderful steak/seafood place for dinner downtown. It was a lot of fun and the perfect way to celebrate... can't wait for part 2... the beach!

On a random note... can I say I love a good friend surprising me with a treat?

This is me at work this past Sunday,  (He works at Starbucks... yummy)! It made my day.

Thrifty-ness

I did manage to do some thrifting and I found a few things this week...
Baby topiary, $.60

Tall skinny "birdhouse" $.60. And it doesn't even need a makeover, the colors are perfect! It had a sticker from Kohls on it for $10. Not too bad for 95% off! HA

I love these for a pop of color on my new bookshelves $.99 each. I love that they have lids.

Super cute bag, I love the pleating and buckle....  good for any season $10.

So, total cost was about $14. Not too shabby right?

Thrift Store Shopping and Thrift Store Pricing

I have been to a few Thrift Stores lately and have not had much luck. Boo! I did run into Goodwill the other day and came home with these items. My total was $1.70, bigger spender right?
I got this wreath for .59 and decided to put it around the candle in my lantern

Cute huh?

Then I found these, a bag of 8 for .99. Yes please. It was obvioulsy a DIY project, which I am all about. They were with the Christmas stuff and had been used as ornaments (complete with paper clips shoved into them to hang from). So, I took out the paper clips, ribbon and fake flowers.

I ended up with these. Arent the neat? Maps are everywhere and I am loving 8 of these all dodne for .99! I plan on putting them in a jar for my new and improved bookshelves! YAY!

Another fabulous find. We are updating basically everything where I work... so, I came home with this! It will look great on the deck with some fun and colorful pillows!

Francesca's was having a sale. These earrings were marked down from $15 to $3. I really love them. I also got a chain for my neclace that I mentioned in this post for $3. Yes! I can FINALLY wear it!

From time to time, I will go into Rugged Warehouse. It is usually hit or miss but they do have some awesome deals. Here is what I found!

While in Francesca's I saw earrings that looked a lot like these and they were $15 a piece. I got all 3 of these for $4. Feathers are so in right now and I love the silver ones and have been looking for some peacock feathers too. Score!

I also got this cute makeup bag for $4. I love the pleats, patent leather, polka dots and flowers.

I know its hard to see (and this picture is from my phone, so that does'nt really help), but I also bought this Target dress for $8. It is black with ruffles and flowers. It will be really cute with a long sleeve shirt, tights and boots in the colder months. And for that price... nice.

Have a great week!

Bye Bye Weekend

I finally put my feather wreath above my guest room bed. I like it. I still am looking for an old door to make a neat headboard.

My friends and I love to paint pottery. I made another polka dot creation. I would be a little more creative except for the face that you have to do 4 coats of everything and I get a little impatient with it by the end. Plus, I love polka dots and you really cant go wrong with them right?

It turned out really cute. Not sure what to do with it. Right now it is in my bathroom drawer holding jewelry and bobby pins.

I bought a really cute bag the other day at Marshalls. It was a great deal. $30. I have been looking for one just like this for a while now. I love the color, it goes with any color or outfit and I can use it pretty much for any season. My kinda deal.

Still looking for decor for my dining room. I really wanna do the plate wall like I mentioned here. But I also really like the idea of having a hutch on the wall. I had a little trouble finding one that I really liked and obviously I would have plates on it..

I was so productive today and I am so proud of myself. I went to church, went to eat, went grocery shopping, washed both sets of sheets and made both beds, unpacked all our beach crap, swept the wood floors, cleaned the kitchen counters, vacuumed, and for the first time ever... I used a carpet shampooer. It was a bit of a pain in the butt but I hope it made my nasty carpet a little better. So, needless to say, I am ready for bed. I cant believe tomorrow is Monday... work week here we come.

Front Door

Ever since we bought our house last year, I have wanted a new door. Hopefully soon we will get one. I need to decide on one first. When we moved, I did paint our front door black along with all of the shutters that were painted maroon (sorry, I am not a fan). The front door was white. (also, sorry, I am not a fan) I feel like white doors like unfinished. The black paint helped and I still want a black door. Just trying to decide which style is best for my house.
Love the sidelights and that WONDERFUL molding.

Cute and cottagy

Craftsman all the way... LOVE this door!

I love all of them.... hmmm... which one, which one? Oh how I wish I had side lights and a transom, that would make such a HUGE difference. Oh well, one day..... HA!

Lately...

FYI- this is a pretty random post. I have been too much fun this summer and have been putting off a lot of projects. I have a lot of catching up to do on that. I did work on my bookshelves the other day, but I am still not completely happy with them, so I will have to share later. Here is what I have been up to the past few days... (excuse all the pictures, they are from my phone)

I got a new haircut. My friend cuts it and she does a GREAT job. I always love getting my hair done. I love the new style, the way it feels and when they shampoo it for you... ahhhh

Frozen Yogurt is such a yummy summer treat. I love that you can add your own toppings. Its so nice on summer nights. I have been wearing my hair wavy, the humidity makes it curl up anyway so why fight it? Plus it is so easy and low maintenance.

Fireworks for July 4th at the park. They were great.

The best meal ever. I cooked roast, onions and potatoes in the crock pot. Then cut up a cucumber and tomato and got home grown squash from my Aunt and Uncles garden..... wow, all I can say is delicious!

I also made a super yummy and easy pound cake. Try it, you will love it!
CHOCOLATE POUND CAKE
Ingredients:
1 pkg dark chocolate cake mix
1 pkg instant chocolate pudding mix
1 16 oz sour cream
3 eggs
1/3 cup vegetable oil
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Preaheat oven to 350. Grease a bundt pan. Mix together ingredients and pour in pan. Bake for one hour and then cool. Top with powdered sugar.

Does'nt get much easier then that.

Here we are... beaching it up! Soaking up the sun.

And I am happy to say that I am beach bound today. We are going to Hilton Head with my family and I could not be more excited. I better get packing!

Happy 4th of July everyone, and thank you to all of our soldiers, past and present.!

My Wonderful Coffee Table

I love my coffee table. I found it on Craigslist of course. I really loved the legs and the detail. When I found it, it had been painted a pale green color and smelled of moth balls...

I first painted the entire chest white and I liked the look of it but really wanted to have a wood top. I figured if I really screwed it up, I could always paint the sucker back.
This was my first stripping job... HA! Talk about work, and fumes... well it was worth it because here she is now......

I love it. Its exactly what I was picturing! Well worth all the work for sure.

Check out the party... linking up to:
